Thermocar
The Thermocar is a coolant preheating system based on the principle of the thermosiphon. As the temperature of the coolant in contact with the electric element increases, its density decreases. As a result, the coolant tends to move to the upper part of the engine. The coolant flowing out of the Thermocar heating tank is replaced by cold coolant coming from the engine. This cycle repeats itself and creates a natural circulation of the coolant.
The Thermocar features a regulating thermostat, which maintains the temperature of the coolant at the desired level. In order to ease the thermosiphon circulation process, the regulating thermostat is dissociated from the Thermocar heating tank and can thus be installed in different parts of the engine.
An overheat thermostat with manual reset protects the system in case of overheating, should there be for example a lack of coolant in the circuit.
The heater tank and the protection caps are completely made of aluminium, which ensures corrosion and impact resistance as well as a high level of watertightness (IP68 protection level).
The heating elements used on the Thermocar feature an exclusive design in spiral. It allows to have very compact elements while keeping the lowest possible watt density (maximum 7 watts per cm2). An Incoloy 800
¨ stainless steel protection sheath ensures a better resistance to corrosion and an increased heater life.
